In July 2022 Seán released his debut solo album of Traditional Irish Music on Mandolin, Tenor Banjo and Fiddle. Featuring John Blake on Guitar, Piano and Bouzouki and Simone Keegan on Fiddle, the album was formally launched by Seán Potts at Scoil Samhraidh Willie Clancy 2022 to widespread critical acclaim.

Renowned Russian violin pedagogue, Leopold Auer, wrote: “art begins where technique ends.” Seán Keegan’s technical command of the mandolin affords him a platform from which to create a new artistic standard for the mandolin in Irish traditional music.

This debut CD is one of the most pleasing on the ear that I’ve ever heard…a perfect companion from start to finish
John Carty – 2003 TG4 Musician of the Year

I find “A Bird Never Flew on One Wing” to be an incredible album. That Keegan is a superb musician is immediately apparent from its start. His playing is full of great character, carries a strong sense of invention, and he executes with sterling technique, which in combination makes him easy to listen to and appreciate.’

‘There are many great loves about making a podcast like this…one is when through the door a CD arrives and you just go, “Wow, that is so good.”

This is music that I can only describe as like mountain water. It’s clear, it’s cool and it’s absolutely wonderfully refreshing. He’s a great musician and he picks beautiful tunes.

All I can say is, if you’re listening, Seán, I envy your mandolin playing. Superb stuff.
